Rod Blagojevich, King of All Media

Rod Blagojevich on the day of his arraignment

Rod Blagojevich’s publicist just launched a new website dedicated to the former Governor’s efforts to overtake Howard Stern as the King of All Media. No, it’s not located at www.rodblagojevich.com, as one might expect, it’s located here:

http://www.thepublicityagency.com/rod-blagojevich/index.htm

He has also registered the domain name www.governorrod.com, despite that fact that Blagojevich resigned from that position under the darkest of clouds earlier this year, but an effort to visit that domain simply lands the user back at http://www.thepublicityagency.com/rod-blagojevich/index.htm. Strange.

It’s entertaining, and more than a bit puzzling, to explore this website, and it makes one wonder whether Blagojevich has somehow convinced himself that he is innocent of the charges that have been brought against him.

What can we learn about the new, improved Rod? Well, we learn that it “burns” this “champion for ordinary Americans … to see politicians mislead or lie to the American public,” and that he’s using every media outlet to fight for them:

Radio: “Empower yourself! The media can’t distort or filter his message. Rod tells you what others won’t … the truth. Sunday 12-2pm CT on WLS The Big 89.”

Television: “With guest appearances on news programs and invites from reality televison, Rod is primed for primetime.”

Books: “Rod’s autobiography ‘The Governor’ is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. It hits stores in September.”

Public speaking: “Colleges, universities, businesses … Rod attracts attention and an audience.”

Public speaking, eh? Isn’t that what got him into trouble in the first place? As taken from transcripts of Federal wiretaps, here are some of Blagojevich’s more damning statements regarding the vacant Illinois Senate seat that he was accused of attempting to sell:

November 3: “Unless I get something real good for [Senate Candidate 1], [expletive], I’ll just send myself, you know what I’m saying … if I don’t get what I want and I’m not satisfied with it, then I’ll just take the Senate seat myself … [It] is a [expletive] valuable thing, you just don’t give it away for nothing.”

November 5: “I’ve got this thing and it’s [expletive] golden, and, uh, uh, I’m just not giving it up for [expletive] nothing. I’m not gonna do it. And, and I can always use it. I can parachute me there.”

November 11: “They’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. [expletive] them.”

Transcripts can be a little dry, so you might find this video to be a bit more entertaining:

Bravely, the Blagojevich website invites you tell tell Rod what’s bugging you by e-mailing him at rod@seligmultimedia.com. Don’t be shy, he’s on your side!
